  • Q. What is the Student Technical Help Desk?
    A. The Student Technical Help Desk is a student-run technology support service on campus that is overseen by the Springfield College ITS department. The Student Technical Help Desk provides computer technology support for students that live on campus.

    Q. How do I contact the Student Technical Help Desk?
    A. You can contact the Student Technical Help Desk by dialing x3777 on campus or (413)748-3777 from off campus. You can also email the Student Technical Help Desk at: studenthelp@spfldcol.edu

    Q. What hours are they open?
    A. The Student Technical Help Desk responds to calls Monday thru Thursday. You can leave a message or send an email anytime.

    Q. What kind of support do they provide?
    A. The Student Technical Help Desk provides help with virus problems, Internet connection problems, general computer questions, and software support. The Student Technical Help Desk will also help to troubleshoot computer hardware problems.

    Q. What information should I give when leaving a message or emailing the Student Technical Help Desk?
    A. Leave your full name [spelling it out would be helpful!!], your dorm name & room#, your phone number, your computer's operation system [e.g. Windows XP Home], a brief description of the problem, and when you will be available for a call back.

    Q. Where is the Student Technical Help Desk located?
    A. The Student Technical Help Desk is located in the basement of Babson Library.

    Q. Where is THE LINK COMPUTER STORE?
    A. COMPUTER SERVICES PREVIOUSLY OFFERED AT THE LINK COMPUTER STORE ARE NOW AVAILABLE THROUGH THE CAMPUS BOOKSTORE AND OFF-CAMPUS THROUGH UPLINC.

    Computer hardware repair services, previously provided on campus at The Link Store by Uplinc, remain available off campus by contacting Uplinc at (413) 693-0700, toll free at (888) 875-4621 or at www.uplinc.com. The Uplinc, Inc. office is located at 48 Capital Drive, West Springfield, MA 01089.

    Computer supplies previously available to students through The Link Store, are now available at the SC Campus Bookstore. Supplies, including patch cords, zip disks, floppy disks and thumb drives are among the items available.

    The College’s Student Help Desk is available to assist students, and can be accessed at Extension 3777. Messages can be left at any time, 24/7; Student Help Desk Assistants are trained to respond to routine questions and to make appropriate referrals to other resources as necessary.
