[Virus Prevention Tips]
  • Do not open any email attachments from an unknown source. Even if you do know who the email came from, many viruses are spread through jokes and other seemingly harmless attachments.
  • Do not open email attachments that are .exe or .vbs files.
  • Do not install any updates that are emailed to you and appear to be from Microsoft. It is Microsoft’s policy to never email updates to users.
  • Update your anti-virus software regularly, at least once a week. You should also scan your computer for viruses regularly.
  • Update your Windows operating system with the latest critical updates through the Microsoft Windows Update Web page.
  • Contact the Student Help Desk for any questions or problems related to a computer virus.
