Helpful Tips for Current Students



Using Floppy Disks and Zip Disks in the computer labs:
To prevent floppy disks and zip disks from being corrupted, please follow the steps listed below before inserting a disk into the disk drive:
  1. Open “My Computer” on the Windows desktop by double-clicking on it.
  2. With no disk in the drive, double click on the drive icon (either Floppy A: or Zip 250 D).
  3. You should see a message “Please insert a disk into drive”.  This is normal.  You can then insert your disk into the drive and access the disk as needed.
  4. If you see a list of files shown, even though no disk is in the drive, report the problem to one of the Lab Assistants and do not use your disk in the computer.  


Shared CD titles in the main OpenLab in Babson Library
Several network-shared CD titles are available on the OpenLab computers in Babson Library.  These titles include:
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Cardiac View
  • Cardiac Cycle
  • Electrocardiography
  • Human Movement Analysis (HUMAN)
  • Human Physiology
  • Electrophysiology of the Heart
 To run these CD titles, click on the Start button on the Windows 2000 desktop on any computer in the OpenLab and choose ProgramsShared CD’s and click on the Shared CD’s link.  Follow the instructions in the Readme.txt file.

Software Updates:
SPSS Version 12.0 is now available in the labs.
