Springfield College Board Of Trustees Announce Board Elections

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Springfield College Board of Trustees announced its 2012-2013 board elections following their annual meeting in May.
Douglass L. Coupe of Bluffton, S.C. has been re-elected as chair. Coupe is the retired vice president of State Street Global Investor Services based in Boston. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees and certificate of advanced studies at Springfield College, and has been a member of the Springfield College Board of Trustees for 17 years.
Springfield College graduates re-elected were Herbert H. Jervis of Amelia Island, Fla.; Lisa B. Emirzian of Longmeadow, Mass.; and John A. Odierna of Longmeadow, Mass. Jervis, who also earned his master’s degree at the college, is the retired vice president and chief intellectual property counsel for Pioneer Hi-Bred International in Johnston, Iowa. Emirzian is a doctor of dental medicine with Emirzian, Mariano & Associates in East Longmeadow, Mass.; and Odierna is an attorney based in Springfield, Mass.
Also re-elected to three-year terms were William A. Burke III, president of Newell Professional and Newell Rubbermaid in East Longmeadow, Mass.; and Robert M. Sullivan, president and owner of the Sullivan Companies based in Springfield, Mass.
Springfield College graduates newly elected were Bridget Belgiovine of Wellesley, Mass.; MaryLynn Jacobs of Somers, Conn.; Michele Megas-Ditomassi of Longmeadow, Mass.; and Stephen W. McCarthy of Duxbury, Mass. Belgiovine earned her master’s degree from the college and she is director of athletics and chair of the department of physical education and athletics at Wellesley College. Jacobs is founder and partner of Attain Therapy and Fitness in East Longmeadow, Mass.; Megas-Ditomassi is a retired teacher and community volunteer from Longmeadow, Mass.; and Stephen W. McCarthy is director of real estate and facilities for Shields Health Care Group in Quincy, Mass.
Also elected were Jeni Ellis Halliday of Houston, Texas and New York, N.Y., owner of Wellness at Work; and James H. Ross III of Wilbraham, Mass., president and chief operating officer for Broadcast Tower Ventures, LLC in Marlborough, Mass.
Robert Kearney of Norwich, Conn. was elected student trustee. Kearney is an athletic training major and will be entering his senior year this fall.
