Tara HengeveldAssistant Professor of Occupational Therapy

As our academic fieldwork coordinator, Tara works closely with each student to plan his or her Level I and II fieldwork experiences. Other large parts of her position are to consult with our clinical instructors and provide support to students in the field. She also teaches seminars related to fieldwork, professional behavior, ethical issues, and current clinical challenges. Her clinical background is in mental health, substance abuse, and management of OT services.

Kathy has taught courses in human anatomy, neuroscience and adult physical function and currently serves as chair of the OT department. Her specialty area of practice is the application of assistive technology, products and devices that support people's abilities to participate in activities that are important to them.

Ellen teaches courses in pediatrics and research, and runs a seminar that introduces students to client-practitioner interaction. She has had extensive experience in early intervention, school based practice, management, consultation and program development and has taught courses in our post-professional program.

Joan's specialty area of practice has been in working with older adults. She coordinates our involvement with the Springfield College/Springfield Technical Community College Campus Rehab Clinic, and oversees our undergraduate programs (dual degree and advanced senior programs). Joan teaches courses in theoretical foundations, adult physical function, gerontology, and has a part in some of the fieldwork requirements.
Corrie TrattnerAssistant Professor of Occupational Therapy

Corrie has worked with and teaches about adolescents and adults with cognitive, mental, and behavioral disorders and is certified in substance abuse treatment. She also teaches our group process and OT management courses and has taught within our post-professional program.
