Adam Perlman, MD, MPH, FACP is the executive director and Hunterdon Endowed Professor at the Institute for Complementary and Alternative Medicine; and chair of the Department of Primary Care, School of Health Related Professions, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He is the founding medical director of the Siegler Center for Integrative Medicine in Livingston, NJ.
Bailing Li Kean received her doctorate in Chinese medicine from Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is a licensed acupuncturist. She has practiced acupuncture in the United States and the Peoples Republic of China and teaches Tai Chi and Qi-Gong at the School of Tai Chi, Baystate Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, Springfield Technical Community College, and senior centers throughout the Pioneer Valley.
Jeanne Schubmehl, G’04, MS, OTR/L owns the private practice, Therapeutic Interventions, and is an adjunct professor of occupational therapy at Springfield College, where she received her post-professional MS in OT. She has over twenty-five years of clinical experience focusing on mental health and sensory interventions and is certified in therapeutic listening and reiki healing level II.
Edward G. Tessier, PharmD, MPH is certified as a Pharmacotherapy Specialist by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties. He is a clinical pharmacist at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, MA., with over twenty-five years of clinical pharmacy experience. He is co-author of the 22nd edition of Mosby’s Pharmacology in Nursing, and is an adjunct professor at Springfield College and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Jay Kain, ’78 G’84, PhD, PT, ATC, IMPC is the chief executive officer of Jay B. Kain Physical Therapy in Great Barrington, MA., and dean of the Connecticut School of Integrative Manual Therapy, Bloomfield, CT. He is an adjunct professor at American International College and guest lecturer at Springfield College.
Wilson Mertens, MD, MSBA is the medical director of the Baystate Regional Cancer Program and of Cancer Services, Baystate Health System, and an associate professor of medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. Widely published in the areas of sarcoma, genitourinary malignancy, and breast cancer management, his current research interests include topics in medical management and cancer patient supportive care.
James Kessler, JD is the vice president and general counsel of Health New England in Springfield, Massachusetts serving over 100,000 members in western Massachusetts. Prior to his arrival at HNE, he served as northeast regional counsel for the Kaiser Permanente health plans; as general counsel for Valley Health Plan of Amherst, MA; as an attorney in private practice; and as legal counsel to the Presidential Interagency Task Force on Workplace Safety and Health.
