Springfield College Names David McMahon
Director of United Campus Ministry And Spiritual Life
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., July 17, 2006 – Springfield College has appointed David L. C. McMahon as director of the United Campus Ministry and Spiritual Life Center. McMahon, who has taught at Boston University School of Theology since 2000 and recently was pastor at Wakefield Lynnfield United Methodist Church in Wakefield, Mass., succeeds Fr. Leo James K. Hoar, who stepped down from the position earlier this year due to illness.
McMahon will work with the college’s adjunct clergy and other student services staff to foster community and to provide pastoral care and opportunities for worship, reflection and service for students, faculty, staff and alumni.
A candidate for a doctoral degree in religious and theological studies at Boston University, McMahon has taught religious studies, theology and ministerial arts courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has extensive experience in pastoral ministry and in educating and collaborating with professionals in ministry and in social service.
McMahon graduated from Harvard College and earned his master’s degree in divinity from the Boston University School of Theology. He has been active professionally and personally in interfaith dialogue and action, and in guiding students to consider how their faith, education and experience support each other.
McMahon lives in Brookline, Mass. with his wife Sarah Queen and their sons Thomas and Benjamin.
