SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Dec. 7, 2005 -- Karen Ray of Mission Viejo, Calif. has been named interim director of the Los Angeles Campus of the Springfield College School of Human Services. The announcement was made today by Robert J. Willey Jr., dean of the school based in Springfield, Mass.
Ray, who has been on the faculty of the school since 2002, will serve in the interim position while Springfield College conducts a search for a new campus director. Ray succeeds Elaine Parker-Gills who has joined the faculty of the school. The Springfield College School of Human Services (SHS) provides bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in human services at its Los Angeles Campus at 111 North La Brea Ave., Inglewood, Calif., as well as its main campus in Springfield, Mass. and eight other campuses across the country. Because most SHS students are working adults, the school schedules classes on weekends.
A candidate for a doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Capella University, Ray brings 20 years of experience in management, education, international marketing, design and sales to her new role. Prior to joining the faculty of Springfield College, she was a development projects manager at Opera Pacific. She has been a business and management instructor at Teikon University, and a leadership management trainer at Geller and Associates. At Fifth Generation Systems, she rose to international sales and marketing manager after serving in management in east coast and international management.
The Springfield College School of Human Services recently was granted accreditation of its undergraduate programs by The Council for Standards in Human Service Education, which cited the school as “an outstanding and innovative human services program.” Springfield College, founded in 1885, is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.
