SC Appoints David Hall To New Position Of Director Of Campus Recreation
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Aug. 29, 2005 -- Springfield College has named David A. Hall to the new position of director of campus recreation. Hall has been director of campus recreation at the University of the Pacific -- Stockton, Calif. since 2000.
In the new position, Hall will be responsible for establishing a new, comprehensive campus recreation program for Springfield College. The program will serve students, faculty and staff. Among his responsibilities will be oversight of the college’s current intramural programs, sports clubs, and wellness center, as well as development of new campus recreational programming.
Springfield College recently announced plans to construct a new multipurpose field house and wellness center. Hall will have a significant role in programming for these facilities.
In making the announcement, Springfield College President Richard B. Flynn said “David Hall brings strong experience in all areas of comprehensive recreational sports programming. We are delighted that he will take a leadership role in coordinating and enhancing Springfield College’s recreational offerings for all members of our campus community.”
Hall was promoted to his recent position at the University of the Pacific – Stockton after having been director of new student programs and campus recreation there. Prior to that, he served at Texas A&M University -- Corpus Christi, Texas in a succession of increasingly responsible positions in recreational sports culminating as assistant director. He also has held teaching positions at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, Texas; San Joaquin Delta College and the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Fla.
A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Hall earned his master’s degree in health, leisure and sports from the University of West Florida, and his doctoral degree in educational administration and leadership from the University of the Pacific - Stockton. He has been active in the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association since 1991, serving on committees, giving presentations at numerous programs, and authoring newsletter articles. He also has been involved in various other professional activities. He resides in Broad Brook, Conn.
