Springfield College To Present Forum On Career Advancement In Social Work
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Nov. 3, 2003 -- The Springfield College School of Social Work will present an informational forum and drop-in session for persons interested in career advancement in social work on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, from 4 to 6 p.m., at its new facilities in the Springfield College Brennan Center, 45 Island Pond Road, Springfield.Faculty members, administrators and students will answer questions on the school’s master’s degree programs that can be completed part-time in three years with weekend classes, or full-time in two years on weekdays. Information will also be available on the combined master of social work/juris doctorate four-year program in conjunction with Western New England College School of Law.
The school also offers an advanced standing master of social work program for qualified graduates of bachelor of social work programs that are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Additionally, for persons with master's degrees in social work, nursing, school counseling, mental health and other fields, the school offers a post-master's certificate program in advanced social work practice with children and adolescents. Classes for the post-master’s program will be held on 15 Thursday evenings each in upcoming spring and fall semesters for 90 continuing education units.
The Springfield College School of Social Work recently relocated into new quarters at the college’s Brennan Center, which completed a $2 million renovation this year. The 18,000 square-foot facility includes electronically equipped classrooms; a large, tiered auditorium-style classroom; a conference room with seating for 20 around an oval table; an airy, light-filled two-story lobby/lounge; a computer room; and various other facilities.
