The School Guidance Counseling Program prepares students to meet Massachusetts Licensure requirements for School Guidance Counselors while working toward a Master’s of Education degree (M.Ed.).

Students who have previously earned a master's degree in a related field may apply to work toward a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS), which requires a minimum of 32 credit hours beyond the master's. The program is designed for students at the threshold of their graduate careers, as well as seasoned professionals.

The academic course load combined with the pre-practicum and practicum experiences provide ample opportunity for the graduate student to participate in self-evaluation, peer-evaluation, and discussion with faculty and public school counselors, administrators, and teachers. Students’ fieldwork is critiqued and students are helped to hone their skills through regular supervisor observations, journal writing, reflective papers, and school-based supervision.
