Prospective Students
Dear Prospective Students and Parents:Welcome to Springfield College and the Counseling Center.
As you may be beginning to realize, selecting a college that is right for you can be quite a process. You may rely on counselors, teachers, friends, and of course, family members throughout this important time. In fact, selecting a college can often become in part, a family decision. Your family may be able to help you look at your reasons for selecting a particular college and, because they know you better than anyone, help you identify specific concerns or needs you may want to ask about. If you feel that contact with the Springfield College Counseling Center would be useful to you during this process, please feel free to contact us.
The Counseling Center’s main purpose is to provide a variety of counseling services for students who may seek help addressing personal problems. Over the years, we have noticed that students may experience difficulties with their transition to college life. These problems may manifest themselves through academic difficulties, poor decision-making, eating disorders, isolation, and a variety of other issues. While many students may adjust smoothly to college life, we know that during their time at Springfield College, some students may engage in counseling due to significant life events (death in the family, financial concerns, relationship difficulties, etc.). We have also found that involving family members can be instrumental in helping a student overcome many of the difficulties that he or she may be facing. For a variety of reasons, we would like you to be aware of our services.
We can be reached at (413) 748-3345 (August 15th – May 31st) via e-mail, Gary_Enright@spfldcol.edu, (June 1st – August 15th).
Is there a Cost?
- The Counseling Center is a free service, and there is no limit to the number of sessions students can have.
