Missy-Marie Montgomery's Bio
Missy-Marie Montgomery has been teaching at Springfield College since 1999. Her teaching responsibilities include the first year writing course sequence, American Nature Writers, Grammar and Usage, and Writing Studio. She is also the faculty advisor for the school’s literary magazine, The Alden Street Review.She received her undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University, her master’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, and she is currently finishing her PhD in rhetoric and composition at the University of Massachusetts.
Professor Montgomery has published poetry in literary magazines such as Poetry International, Lyric Poetry Review, Connecticut Review, Crab Orchard Review, Cimarron Review, Poet Lore, Rattle, Southern Poetry Review, Southern Humanities Review, Chattahoochee Review, Bellevue Review, and many others. Her manuscript, Passion without Object, was a finalist for the Kore First Book award, and the Crab Orchard Review First Book award. Her chapbook, The Blue Gate, is due out in the spring. She has also presented academic papers at conferences such as the National Conference on Composition and Communication and the New England Faculty Development Consortium.
