Title:Assistant Director
Department:Financial Aid - School of Human Services

Description:Duties include: processes student financial aid applications for the School of Human Services; analyzes student eligibility for financial aid and awards funds; counsels students and potential students regarding available sources of aid and eligibility requirements; assists students in budgeting resources; assists counseling staff and responds to difficult financial aid inquiries and problems; certifies and monitors loan processing for School of Human Services; monitors enrollment and eligibility changes; and performs related duties as assigned.



QualificationsWork requires communication, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program. Requires two years of experience in financial aid administration or related administrative experience to acquire skills necessary to administer complex office functions related to the establishment and management of financial aid policies and procedures, compilation of reports. Experience with PowerFaids is preferred. Applicant must have extreme sensitivity to the confidential nature of the counseling aspect of dealing with students’ financial aid issues.

Description: Ensure that students enrolled at all SHS campuses and the on-line offerings are equipped with the necessary tools to provide a successful academic experience; including but not limited to tutoring services, academic intervention, and relevant technologies toward retention of students and satisfactory academic progress.



QualificationsBachelor’s degree in student personnel, education, or related field and a minimum of three years related experience in higher education. Ability to create a proactive working relationship with a largely diverse population. Must have strong oral and written communications skills. Experience in a marketing and promotion setting is preferred.

Description:Responsibilities include oversight of employee recruitment, selection and retention; staff compensation and benefits; employee training and organizational development; collaborative policy development and interpretation; employee relations; development, implementation, and management of the HRIS automated personnel and applicant tracking/evaluation systems; and employment record retention. The successful candidate will also possess a strong commitment to teamwork and assignments to various college committees will be required.



QualificationsThe ideal candidate for this position will preferably have a Master’s degree in a related field and: A minimum of 5-8 years of comprehensive human resources experience. Higher education experience preferred. Solid knowledge of recruitment and benefits administration required. Experience with general and executive compensation preferred. In-depth understanding of all aspects of employment law and regulations. Strong supervisory skills and excellent communication skills (oral and written) required. Well-developed computer skills. ADP payroll and HRIS experience highly desired.

Description:The successful candidate will have content expertise in one or more of our focus areas: addiction services, criminal justice, education, organizational management and leadership, or youth development. Responsibilities include instructional duties in the Human Services major and supporting the Campus Director in student development. Each faculty member teaches four courses per term, and advises 25 to 30 students. Starting date for the position is August 1, 2009. Preference will be given to candidates who have a record of active and consistent involvement in human services in Houston, Texas, or surrounding areas.



Qualifications:An earned doctorate is required. Bilingual capability and experience in multi-cultural settings is desirable.
