Margaret Lloyd's Bio

Margaret Lloyd Professor of English

Dr. Lloyd has taught English at Springfield College since 1987 and presently chairs the Humanities Department. She teaches the Senior English Seminar, Creative Writing, Women and Literature, Celtic Literature, American Romanticism, and Contemporary Poetry.

She has published a book on the structure of William Carlos Williams’ poem Paterson (Fairleigh Dickinson University Press) and two books of poems, This Particular Earthly Scene (Alice James Books) and A Moment in the Field: Voices from Arthurian Legend (Plinth Books). Her poetry has appeared widely in journals (Poetry East, Seneca Review, Gettysburg Review, New England Review, Planet: The Welsh Internationalist, Poetry Wales) and in four anthologies. She received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities for the creation of critical editions and translations of poems written by a fifteenth-century medieval Welsh woman. She was the Margaret Bridgman Fellow in Poetry at the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, received the Vachel Lindsay Poetry Award for the best poem published in Willow Springs, a National Poetry Series commendation, and two Pushcart Prize nominations. She was awarded a fellowship to Hawthornden Castle, an international retreat for writers in Scotland, where she completed A Moment in the Field: Voices from Arthurian Legend, and was granted a writing residency at Yaddo, where she worked on a forthcoming book of poems.
