Undergraduate Program: Elementary Education
Elementary, (1-6)The four year program for students seeking elementary licensure is structured so that students meet the subject matter knowledge requirements for the elementary teacher license and develop knowledge of the appropriate learning standards in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
All students pursuing elementary teacher licensure through Springfield College are required to take 60 semester hours of arts and science courses. Many of these courses meet the general education requirements currently in place at the college while others have been specifically planned to meet the subject matter knowledge requirements for licensure. In order to facilitate completion of the elementary teacher licensure program in four years, it is recommended that students major in one of the following:
American Studies (130 s.h. with licensure requirements)
English (137 s.h. with licensure requirements)
Mathematics and Computer Technology (137 s.h. with licensure requirements)
