Establishing a Reference File
Members of the graduating class are encouraged to establish a Reference File. If the graduate wishes to participate in the on-campus recruiting program, the establishment of this file is mandatory; otherwise, it is optional. In order for the reference file to be functional, graduates should submit at least three references and the appropriate transcript(s), in addition to a professional looking resume and reference file release form. Members of the graduating class have access to ten complimentary sets of the file to be used within the year of graduation. If the file is established after August of the graduating year, the service is fee-based: $25 for ten sets of the reference file. There is no time limit on when this service can be used.
To request that a reference file be sent to an employer, graduates can simply visit or call the Career Center at 413- 748-3222 or mail the request to Career Services, Springfield College, Springfield, MA 01109. Graduates are encouraged to retain a copy of their reference file. The file will be maintained for ten years.
