Content Tutoring Program

Tutorial Program

Tutoring is available for any Springfield College student who needs it. Faculty-approved tutors provide individual or small group sessions to students who are concerned about their academic performance. The Tutor Coordinator makes matches based on subject area and availability. Once a tutor is identified, students are responsible for scheduling meeting times and locations.

Please note: We will make every attempt to fulfill all tutor requests; however, there are instances when a match cannot be made. Therefore, all students are strongly advised to get tutor requests in as early as possible.

Request a Tutor

If students are interested in being a tutor for Writing Support Services, Math Support Services or other academic areas, they should:
  1. Go to the Academic Success Room (Hickory 109) and fill out a Tutor Application packet.
  2. All tutors must be faculty approved. If you would like to tutor you should contact the professor you had for that subject and ask them to recommend you as a tutor. The staff at the Academic Success Center will check with your professor(s). Tutor candidates are expected to have had an A- or better in the course related to the intended academic area. At times, a grade of B+ or higher has been accepted.
  3. Students who are Work Study Eligible are given first consideration for hiring.
  4. If students meet these criteria and are hired, they will be contacted by the Graduate Assistant Tutor Manager for the Academic Success Center and scheduled for formal tutor training.
  5. Once hired, students will need to go to the Office of Human Resources to fill out a W-2 form if they have not done so already.
