Gulick Hall

About Gulick Hall
Named for former Springfield College faculty member and department head Luther H. Gulick, who is widely recognized as the “father of physical education and recreation” in the U.S., this residence hall was constructed in the late 1960s. It now holds just under 300 first-year students, which currently adds up to over half of the freshmen class. In addition to eleven residential wings, there is a main lounge with a big-screen TV, a pool table, a ping pong table, and a foosball table. Also in the main lounge is a common kitchen. Each section of the building is separated from the next by a flight of stairs, making the design one of the more unique residence facilities on campus.Students enjoy living in fully-furnished double rooms, with air conditioning. Each one of the residential wings has a lounge for floor socials and a place to socialize. Single rooms are available. There is only one single room per wing, which are designated on a first-come, first-served basis.
There are many exciting events which take place in Gulick Hall, including:
- Jammy-jam – Gulick welcomes all first-year students by hosting a pajama-jam dance social on the first night that students arrive.
- Gulick Games – A week-long series of events in April brings out true team spirit from each of the hall’s wings. Everyone competes in events to see which floor is crowned that year’s Gulick Games champion!
