Joyce L. Szewczynski's Bio, Ph.D.
Joyce Szewczynski, Ph.D., has been teaching Spanish at Springfield College since 1988. During her career in foreign language education, she has taught Spanish, French, and ESL in various institutions. She has also supervised student teachers and taught foreign language methods and second language acquisition courses.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities at Springfield, she created and administered the College’s study abroad program in Spain and served as the Associate Director of the International Center in charge of study abroad programming. She holds a degree in Hispanic Literature and Linguistics (M.A) and a doctorate (Ed. D.) in Curriculum Development and Curriculum Reform.
Szewczynski is an active member of local, state, regional, and national organizations. Her leadership positions include serving as President of the Massachusetts Foreign Language Association (MaFLA) and member of the Board of Directors for the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).
