A Day Camp for Boys and Girls Ages 8-15Space is limited, Register early!
“The curriculum is designed to teach common skills and strategies”
This program offers basic technical & tactical training for the youth player in an environment that is both challenging and enjoyable. From beginners to intermediate players, the curriculum is designed to teach common skills and strategies used at the team and individual level. Players are grouped by age and playing experience to ensure a safe and developmentally appropriate environment. Each session of the camp is staffed by a member of the Springfield College soccer coaching staff as well as members of the Springfield Soccer teams.
Features
- Instructional sessions will be held on our state of the art Irv Schmid Field Turf Complex and newly renovated Stagg Field
- Recreational swimming is available in the Art Linkletter Natatorium with its six lane 50-meter Olympic-sized swimming pool
- Campers will dine in Cheney Hall Dining Room in an all-you-can-eat cafeteria format
Daily Schedule
- 9:00 am - Group Warm-up
- 9:15 am Technical Sessions
- 10:45 am Group play
- 11:30 am Swimming/individual work/ positional play
- 12:00 Lunch
- 12:45 Challenges/rest/individual play
- 1:15 Tactical sessions
- 2:00 Small sided games
- 3:15 Swimming/individual work/positional play
- 3:45 Camp Day Ends

Upon receipt of registration, a confirmation letter containing additional information and a medical form will be sent out. A completed medical form, signed by a physician and proof of health insurance will be required prior to the start of camp.

About the Directors
John Gibson, a native of London, England, enters his ninth season as head woman’s soccer coach and associate professor of physical education at Springfield College. Gibson’s most successful campaign at Springfield College came in 2007 when Springfield compiled a 16-3-1 record, and wend to the NCAA tournament. In 2006, the pride had a 14-6 record and advanced to the championship game of the ECAC Tournament. Gibson, the New England Woman’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Coach of the Year in 2005, guided Springfield to it’s first-ever NEWMAC Tournament Championship, as the Pride earned its first NCAA Division III tournament berth in school history. Spring field College downed Castleton State, 3-0, at home in the first round to earn its first ever NCAA Division III Tournament win in school history before falling at Oneonta State in second round action of the NCAA’s. In seven years at Springfield, Gibson has won conference Coach of the Year honors twice. For Springfield College’s outstanding 2005 campaign, Gibson was also honored as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Adidas Division III New England Regional Coach of the Year.
Only the seventh coach in a rich soccer tradition dating back to 1906, Peter Haley ’77, G’78 will be entering his 24 season of coaching at his alma mater in the fall of 2008. Haley, who earned both a bachelors degree and a master’s degree in Physical Education at Springfield College, currently serves as an associate professor in the physical education teacher preparation program. A veteran of 27 years on the college soccer circuit, Haley has amassed of 200 wins during his impressive tenure. He was voted the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) coach of the year in 1999 after leading the Pride to its first NEWMAC title and the programs first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 25 years. The 1999 squad finished with an overall mark of 15-6. Haley, the first of only three players in the programs history to be named team captain three times, continues to emphasize player development through hard work, dedication, and discipline. Prior to his return to Springfield College, Haley was the head men’s and women’s coach at the University of the South in Sewanee Tennessee.
