The Springfield College Physician Assistant Program
White Coat Ceremony
The Springfield College Physician Assistant Program held its annual White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2009 on Thursday, October 4. At the ceremony, students receive their white lab coats and take the Physician Assistant Professional Oath before beginning their clinical site experience. Leah M. Kenney, PA-C, the past president and founder of the Association of Plastic Surgery Physician Assistants, was the keynote speaker. Jennifer Hixon, D.H.Sc., chair of the Physician Assistant Program, served as the master of ceremonies, and William Susman, Ph.D., dean of the School of Health Sciences and Rehabilitation Studies, gave the welcoming address. Elliott Stratton and Suzette Wood presented the Marilyn L. Cohen Award to students Kelsey Ejzak '09 and Emily Mason '09.
William Susman, Ph.D., dean of the School of health sciences and rehabilitation studies, has been appointed a member of the Mercy Institutional Review Board of Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Mass. The board, which includes physicians and administrators at the facility, reviews all clinical research projects and related activities proposed by the medical staff and clinical departments of the hospital system.
