COMING HOME
(June 12-15, 2008)
Dear 63ers,
This is the NO EXCUSE reunion!
- You are not coaching little league; if you are, don’t!
- Your children are married, earn more money than you ever did, and can afford another babysitter!
- Your dog is not in therapy and can be left alone!
- You dislike wine, beer, parties, friends, and food; NOT the 63er we remember!
It is time to return to Alden Street and relive those glorious and wonderful days when:
- Fear and trembling ensued when you got Dr. Brooks for Writing Class
- You couldn’t wait the get to Dr. Childs health and first aid class; the best “everything you needed to know about sex” class in the college’s history! Copies of his class notes will be on sale!
- Curfew for the women was 10:00 PM on weekends. Not THIS weekend! The ladies can stay out all night!
- Mini reunion in McCurdy Natatorium; clothes optional.
- Retrace the escape route out of freshman camp.
- Joint meeting-no, not those joints-of all classmates with artificial hips, knees, etc.
- There will be a pre Sti-Yu-Ka reenactment of the old fashion “panty raid” in Abbey Hall. Volunteers needed!
AND, if these highlights, events, and attractions are not enough to convince you to COME HOME to Springfield, then you must not be a “…true heart of old Springfield, who doesn’t love the spot where the Masassoit flows!”
Seriously: Some actual events to look forward to include a HUGE casino night (complete with Doggett Dollars); A class of ’63 only coffee hour at Babson Library; A wine and beer tasting; and our Saturday class dinner at the college’s new conference center.
If you can’t come for the entire weekend, please come for part!! You may want to make your hotel reservations now. The class of ’63 has block reserved at the Hilton Garden Inn. While you’re feeling nostalgic and thinking about all that Springfield College has given to you, think about what you can do in return. Make your five year pledge and support The Kresge Challenge if you haven’t already!
