YMCA Image Collections

Springfield College Archives and Special Collections is creating a digital library chronicling the Young Men’s Christian Associations (YMCA) movement in the United States approximately from the 1880s to the 1920s. The project will digitize, catalog, and provide access through the library’s on-line catalog to nearly 2,000 photographs and images through Voyager, the Library's on-line catalog.

Springfield College alumnus Cliff Smith ('49) of Aurora, Ohio, has donated his extensive collection of postcards to the college. Smith is the former CEO of the Cleveland Metropolitan YMCA, was active in international work with the YMCA of the USA, and remains active in a volunteer capacity with Springfield College through the Hall of Fame Committee.
