  • For technical assistance with your online class, print a copy of the Manhattan Troubleshooting Tips handout which is posted in the right column of links on this page beneath the heading Additional Helpful Handouts. This handout provides information about deleting cookies and files that could prevent you from accessing your Manhattan account.

  • Your PC is your open door to your online class. Make sure you have contact numbers handy for trusted individuals to fix your PC should it suddenly need repair.
  • Suggested specifications for your personal computer (PC) are as follows:
    • 40 GB hard drive
    • 512 MB RAM
    • 700 MHz processor
    • High-speed Internet access (not dial-up)
  • Make sure your firewall allows messages from Springfield College email.

  • Learn how to use the Microsoft Office “Track Changes” feature so that when you receive suggestions for revisions to assignments, you will know how to accept the changes. A link to a Microsoft Office demo of the “Track Changes” feature appears in the right column of links on this page beneath the heading “Frequently Used Links.” It includes audio so make sure your sound card and speakers are activated on your PC.

  • If you need help with Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, and you have Microsoft Office 2007, click the F1 key while you are in any of these programs and a Microsoft Office online support page will appear for you to search or browse for assistance.

  • No matter what version of Microsoft Office you have, you can also surf the Internet for free online tutorials to assist you. Make a list of the tutorials you find user friendly and use them repeatedly.

  • There are various handouts and links made available to you on the Distance Learning Support web page, and this page in the right column of links beneath each of the following headings:
    • Manhattan Handouts
    • Frequently Used Links
    • Additional Helpful Handouts
  • If you forget your Manhattan password, call or email the SHS Tech help contact person at your campus. See table below. Be sure to state the following in your message:

    • Your first and last name
    • The SHS online course you are taking
    • Your instructor’s name
