2009 NCCS Regional Flag Football Tournament Hosted by Springfield College
NCCS National Flag Football Championship Summary
Springfield College Intramural Flag Football team ‘Ghost Face’, won the NCCS Regional Flag Football Tournament Springfield College hosted in October which qualified them for an automatic bid to compete in the NCCS Flag Football National Championship in Tampa, Florida. Intramural Director Tom St. John and the team went to Tampa Jan 2-6. Team members consist of seniors Gerry Bauman, Jesse Craddock, Brian Gogerty, and Tripper DiMauro. Juniors Vince Daley, Russ Krichman, Javier Perez, Scott Picard, Chris Quetant, Shawn Runyon, Aaron Saunders and sophomore Jared Collinson.In their first game against the eventual National Championship Runner-Up, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, SC lost 27-6, though played UNCC to a 6-6 second half tie. Up next for SC was a matchup against the tournament’s host, University of South Florida. In a competitive game, SC was outlasted 24-16. To begin the single elimination playoffs, Ghost Face played the University of Southern Mississippi. After getting down 19-0 in the first half, SC clawed its way back to tie the game at 19 late in the fourth but lost on a touchdown pass on the last play of the game.
It is the first time a student group from Springfield College has ever participated or qualified for a national championship event.
Springfield College had the lowest enrollment among the 16 participating institutions in the Men’s Division:

Trip Highlights:
- Jesse Craddock, Tripper DiMauro, Gerry Bauman and Scott Picard met up with and spent time with 1974 Springfield College graduate, Norman Kosciousko
- Brian Gogerty won the5th Quarter Punt, Pass & Kick Competition sponsored by the NCCS
- Student officials from UCLA and North Carolina State University, who officiated at our regional tournament and at the National Championships, were named All-American officials
