Tom Digby's Bio

Tom Digby (aka “T Dogg”) has been professor of philosophy at Springfield College since 1997. He has authored numerous articles and reviews for philosophy journals, on a wide-range of subjects, including gender, law, ethics, and the history of philosophy (Plato, Aristotle, Hobbes, and Kant). His recent articles include “Male Trouble: Are Men Victims of Sexism?” (Social Theory and Practice) and “Do Feminists Hate Men?: Feminism, Antifeminism, and Gender Oppositionality” (Journal of Social Philosophy). His book, Men Doing Feminism, was published by Routledge.

Digby's interests include philosophy of love, war and militarism, feminist philosophy, race and racism, crime and criminality, and social philosophy. His current work is on the intersections of militarism, love, and gender, which he has addressed in numerous recent multimedia presentations at colleges and conferences, including most recently one titled, “Love and War: How Militarism Shapes the Lives of Men and Women.”

He has given over fifty public presentations and interviews in every region of the country, has served on the editorial boards of three scholarly journals (including, presently, Men and Masculinities), has been a consultant for several major presses, and for many years, has served on the Executive Board of the Society for the Study of Women Philosophers. His Ph.D. is from the University of Colorado.
