Dr. Patrick Decoteau served as a reviewer for the US Department of Education, National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research.

Dr. Patrick Decoteau, of the Rehabilitation and Disability Studies department, served as a reviewer for the US Department of Education, National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research. He participated in the NIDRR's 2009 Field Initiated Projects Program Grant Review Research Applications.

Dr. Regina Kaufman was published in the March 1 issue of Physical Therapy.

Dr. Regina Kaufman's article entitled "Career Factors Help Predict Productivity in Scholarship Among Faculty Members in Physical Therapist Education Programs” was published in the March 1 issue of Physical Therapy.

The Council on Rehabilitation Education recognized Springfield College as one of the original members of the National Registry of Undergraduate Programs in RHDS.

The Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) recognized Springfield College as one of the original members of the National Registry of Undergraduate Programs in Rehabilitation and Disability Studies. This recognition was part of the 10th anniversary celebration of the Commission on Undergraduate Rehabilitation Education, 1999-2009.
Dr. Michael Accordino and Prof. Thomas Ruscio received the award at the National Council on Rehabilitation Education (NCRE) Annual Training Conference Awards Luncheon in San Antonio TX., on February 21, 2009.

William Susman, Ph.D., recently was appointed as the college representative of the Coordinating Committee of the Regional Workforce Development Partnership for Healthcare.

William Susman, Ph.D., dean of the School of Health Sciences and Rehabilitation Studies, recently was appointed as the college representative of the Coordinating Committee of the Regional Workforce Development Partnership for Healthcare. The committee examines regional healthcare workforce needs, training capacities of educational institutions, and funding opportunities to promote workforce development.

Linda Tsoumas, Ed.D., and Julia Chevan, Ph.D., presented at the American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting in Las Vegas, Nev.

Linda Tsoumas, Ed.D., and Julia Chevan, Ph.D., both professors in the physical therapy department, recently presented at the American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting in Las Vegas, Nev. Tsoumas co-authored the poster “The Relationship Between Parent-Child Interactions and Child BMI” with Andrew McLlarkey G'08, Christie Plummer Goodwin G'08, and Grover Price G'08. Chevan presented two educational sessions called “The Second Annual Health Policy Research Forum: Access to Physical Therapy” and “Using Federal Databases in Physical Therapy Research,” and co-authored the poster “The Effectiveness of the Snapdome Weight Bearing Indicator in Teaching Partial Weight Bearing Gait.”

Katherine Post, Ph.D., published in the Dec. 2008 issue of of the American Occupational Therapy Association’s Technology Special Interest Section Quarterly.

Katherine Post, Ph.D., chair of the occupational therapy department, authored the article “Universal Design for Learning: Supporting Students’ Access to Learning and the Curriculum,” published in the Dec. 2008 issue of the American Occupational Therapy Association’s Technology Special Interest Section Quarterly.

Tara Hengeveld, MBA, presented a day long workshop on fieldwork supervision twice during the week of January 26, 2009.

Tara Hengeveld, MBA, OTR/L of the Occupational Therapy Department presented a day long workshop on fieldwork supervision twice during the week of January 26, 2009. This presentation was designed in collaboration with the other academic fieldwork coordinators, sponsored by Genesis Rehabilitation Services and open to the occupational therapy community. The venues of this workshop were Bristol Community College, Springfield College, University of New Hampshire and the University of Southern Maine.
