SOAR Schedule 2009
(Summer Orientation, Advising, and Registration)What is SOAR? SOAR is a one-day advising and registration program for incoming first-year* students. SOAR also includes orientation activities for parents and guardians.
When can I attend? Students have two choices of dates to attend: a primary date based on their major (listed below) or an alternate date -- the program is the same on either day. For most majors, the alternate date is Friday, June 19. For athletic training majors, the alternate date is Wednesday, June 17.
What is the day like? SOAR begins with check-in from 8-8:30 a.m. The morning sessions for students include assessment activities and an introduction to the major; afternoon sessions for students include an introduction to student life at SC and advising and registration. Morning activities for parents and guardians include sessions on financial aid and the student's major; afternoon sessions include introductions to academic and student services. The day concludes at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Questions? More information about SOAR will be sent to students in early May. In the meantime, if you have questions about your attendance day, contact Cheryl Kelley in the Academic Advising Center (413-748-3379 or ckelley3@spfldcol.edu). If you have general questions about the program, contact Jen Dutko in the Student Affairs Office (413-748-3922 or jdutko@spfldcol.edu).
