Family Fun Nights
The second Thursday night of every session is Family Fun Night! Friends and family are invited to join their camper in the experience of a day at Camp Massasoit. Program areas will be staffed, natural crafts planned, and the BBQ will be fired up for hot dogs and hamburgers. Don’t forget about the talent show featuring counselors and campers, an old-fashioned bonfire, and camp songs. It all ends in time to return home for a good night’s sleep to finish up one last day after two weeks of camp fun.In an effort to provide a quality and relaxing experience for parents on a busy Thursday, we offer a BBQ dinner catered by Springfield College Dining Services, enhancing the Family Fun Night experience for our customers. Families will need to RSVP by the end of the first week and payments can be made anytime prior to Thursday evening. Families are also invited to bring their own dinner from home if they wish.
During this evening, we park at the Child Development Center as well as East Campus and operate shuttles for our guests. Please plan to drive to East Campus and our staff will redirect you to the CDC parking lot if necessary.
Campers may not participate in the evening activities without adult supervision. This means we are encouraging and requesting that all campers enjoy the evening’s activities as a family. For those campers not staying for Family Fun Night, child pick-up will be the usual procedure. Campers must be either picked up or met by a parent or guardian by 5:15 p.m. We do not operate the Springfield College shuttle on Family Fun Night. If campers are not picked up by 5:15, we will handle the situation as we would any other camp day, calling the emergency contacts. If no one is reached at the emergency numbers, we will then contact the Department of Social Services.
In the event of inclement or forecasted inclement weather, Family Fun Night will be canceled and not rescheduled. Cancellation information will be posted here on the Camp Massasoit website. You are more than welcome to join us for any remaining scheduled Family Fun Night. Please RSVP to the camp office by Tuesday of that week's scheduled Family Fun Night.Tentative schedule of evening events:
4:15 p.m. Families arrive and regular pick-up occurs
5 p.m. Families and campers enjoy the BBQ or meals brought from home
5:30 p.m. Staff introductions and group skits & songs
6 p.m. Ropes courses, boats, archery, camp fire, slide show, and crafts will be open for families
