Walk-A-Bout Camp (Ages 12-14)

The Walk-A-Bout Camp is designed as a steppingstone for campers who are seeking to further their outdoor skills. Walk-A-Bout is more in-depth than our Voyager Camp, but less rigorous and demanding than our Adventure Camp. Campers ages twelve to fourteen will participate in daily adventures, both on- and off-site, to help prepare them for a one-night overnight camping trip that takes place during the second week of the session. A more detailed itinerary will be sent home during the first few days of the session your child is enrolled in. Walk-A-Bout Camp is open to twelve campers per session, and space is filled on a first-come, first-served basis

Camp Massasoit will provide the "technical" equipment required for all trips. Campers interested in the Walk-A-Bout Camp must be able to handle the rigors of the preset activities for each session. This might include, but is not limited to the following: carrying a thirty-pound backpack; crawling through dark, narrow spaces; and being able to bicycle five or more miles.

Camp runs Monday through Friday, with the camp day beginning at 8:15 a.m. and ending with camper pick-up at 4:15 p.m. Walk-A-Bout Camp programs may have some trips that begin earlier and return later. Camp Massasoit also provides optional early and late care services at no additional cost. Early care begins at 7:30 a.m., and late care extends to 5:15 p.m. Campers are required to bring their own snacks and lunches, but lunchtime milk and refrigeration is provided. Food on the overnight trip is provided for the campers.
