In the fall, the team practices two nights a week in the Field House to prepare for upcoming home football games on Stagg Field. The team also is active at the annual Gymnastics Exhibition Home Show and Homecoming Pep Rally. Rugby (Men's)

Information:
Playing for the Springfield College men’s rugby team is an experience like no other. Participating on the team provides a chance to stay active, to make many life-long friendships, and to have a great time. Rugby is a combination of football and soccer with some twists: the most famous, perhaps, being a lack of pads. The team is open to anyone who is interested; experience is NOT necessary. Many players start without knowing anything about the game, but will leave with a new understanding and love for the sport.

Led by coach Brad Lawrence and captains Jared Collinson and Dylan Gutheil, Springfield College competes in the New England Rugby Football Union (NERFU) in Division III. After strong campaigns in 2008 and 2009, the team went 7-0 in the 2010 regular season with two wins and a loss in the New England championships, placing the squad 7th in the nation for Division III. In the spring 2011 season, the team competed in the Division II Beast of the East tournament against Division I and II teams, finishing third out of 24. The team hopes to expand on their success in the 2011-12 season and possibly make a trip to Ireland in spring 2012. Practices are held Mondays through Thursdays, either from 4 to 6 p.m. on the Facilities and Campus Services field or from 8 to 10 p.m. on the turf. All are welcome and encouraged to participate at any time. The team prides itself on being a family, so come join the family!

During this training, the ski team meets for dryland training, which consists of warm-ups, stretching, running, and some bodyweight exercises to stay in shape for the upcoming season. After winter break, for five consecutive weekends, the ski team races all over mountains in Vermont. Springfield College consistently places well in its races and also often sends racers to regional races.
