History
The study of history at Springfield College is designed to provide students with a basic body of historical and related knowledge which will enable them to better understand the world they inhabit, the problems of their society, and their own lives.
Another major goal of the history program is to assist students in developing analytical, problem-solving, research, and writing skills. Careers in government service, law, business, and teaching readily follow the training of those who major in this discipline.

History Majors in the News!
Junior Steve Headley of Springfield College had a banner day at the NCAA Division III Men's Track & Field Championships at Marietta College. The win gave Headley his second NCAA Championship this year as he cruised to victory in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.51 seconds. He also finished third in the 200, while SC's 4x100 relay team placed sixth, giving the Pride men a total of 19 team points, allowing SC to tie for 11th of 81 scoring teams. Read more.
Amanda DiPaolo was honored for her success this season as she was selected to the 2009 USTFCCCA Division III Cross Country All-New England Region Team.
