History

The study of history at Springfield College is designed to provide students with a basic body of historical and related knowledge which will enable them to better understand the world they inhabit, the problems of their society, and their own lives.

Social Sciences Department Another major goal of the history program is to assist students in developing analytical, problem-solving, research, and writing skills. Careers in government service, law, business, and teaching readily follow the training of those who major in this discipline.

History Major in the News!

Amanda DiPaolo, a Garrison, N.Y. native, is a history major with an impressive 4.0 grade point average. Aside from excelling in the classroom, the sophomore is also a talented athlete. DiPaolo was named All-ECAC Division III and First Team All-NEWMAC in the 10,000 meters. She was a NEWMAC All-Academic selection in both cross country and track and was a member of Springfield's All-New England distance medley relay squad in indoor track. Read more.
