Movement and Sports Studies Major

Degree: Bachelor of Science (BS)

This major offers a comprehensive understanding of the scientific and social foundations of movement and its cultural forms of dance, sports, games, and exercise.

Graduates work as physical education teachers and coaches, and pursue graduate study in movement and sports studies, sport management, rehabilitation, and allied health fields.

Physical Education and Health Education In addition to general education requirements, core curriculum in movement and sport studies and physical education teacher licensure includes:

  • Motor Learning and Skill Acquisition
  • Psychology of Sport
  • Assessment in Movement and Sport
  • Sociology of Sport
  • Heritage and Values of Movement and Sport
  • Physiology of Exercise
  • Kinesiology/Biomechanics
  • Principles and Problems of Coaching
