SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – February 18, 2007 – Temple’s Sterling Kramer captured the all-around to lead his men’s gymnastics team to victory over Springfield College by a score of 202.950 to 187.700 this afternoon at SC’s Blake Arena.

A junior from Garwood, N.J., Kramer had a fine day for the Owls. Not only did he win the all-around with a score of 51.550, he also placed first in the parallel bars (8.750) and the high bar (8.600). In addition, he finished second in the still rings (8.950) and the vault (8.500). He also placed third in the pommel horse (8.000), and fourth in the floor exercise (8.750).

Also having an excellent day for the Owls was sophomore John Vogtman (Baltimore, Md.), who finished second in the All-Around with a score of 50.800. Like Kramer, Vogtman also captured two firsts – in the vault (8.900) and in the still rings (9.300). John also took a third in the floor (8.900), two fourths in the pommel horse (7.600) and the high bar (7.950), and a fifth in the parallel bars (8.150).

The Owls won all six events as a team. From the host’s viewpoint, however, the 187.700 team score was the best SC has tallied this season.

The only individual winner for Springfield College was junior Matt Davis (Southboro, Mass.) with his 8.500 in the pommel horse. Sophomore Andy Kelly (Marston Mills, Mass.) placed tied for fifth in the still rings (8.100) and sixth in the floor exercise (8.600, SC’s best individual score of the day).
