NORTHAMPTON, Mass., September 7, 2002-Springfield College freshman Scott Barton (Fort Plain, N.Y.) finished second to help the Pride defeat Hartwick, 21-34, in the season opening meet for both teams at Smith College.
Barton finished the 6.5 mile run with a time of 24:31. Freshman Chris Hamel (Metheun, Mass.) finished third in his first college meet. Hamel’s time was 24:40.
SC is at UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 21.
