SC-Manhattanville Box Score/Play-by-Play

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- March 15, 2007 - Springfield College played two games during their Spring Break trip to Kissimmee today, and split. In the second game, SC junior catcher Lauren D'Arrigo (Lexington, Mass.) gave the Pride's offense a spark, going three-for-three with two RBI's in its 10-5 win over Manhattanville.

The majority of the scoring came in the third and fourth innings where timely hitting contributed to eight runs for the Pride. With runners on the corners in the third, freshman infielder Michelle Wlosek (Nutley, N.J.) doubled to left field, scoring both runs. Then with runners on second and third, D'Arrigo singled to center, giving the Pride a 5-3 lead that it would never surrender. Junior Angela Atkins (East Haddam, Conn.) and sophomore Aimee Cassella (Southington, Conn.) each added an RBI in the fourth inning to give the Pride 9-5 lead.

The Manhattanville offense was put to rest by freshman right-hander Courtney Kapinos (South Hadley, Mass.) who pitched five innings, giving up only five hits and one earned run.

In the first game played earlier in the day, Springfield College junior right-hander Stephanie Blackman (Stamford, Conn.) pitched a complete game, giving up only two earned runs while striking out four. Despite those good numbers, the Pride lost to SUNY Plattsburgh, 7-1. Blackman also scored the lone run for Springfield after pinch-running in the seventh inning.

Upon completion of the day Springfield College’s record was still even at 4-4.
