Boxscore

PLYMOUTH, N.H., October 24, 2006 – Sophomore Jane Kelleher (Chatham, Mass.) scored two goals and junior Eileen Jenkins (Gorham, Maine) collected three assists Tuesday afternoon to lead Springfield College to a 4-0 victory over Plymouth State University in the field hockey home finale at Arold Field.

Springfield, ranked 16th in this week’s Division III national poll, outshot the Panthers 16-0 in the first half but couldn’t push one past PSU junior goalie Katie Randall. Randall made 12 first-half saves to keep the game scoreless through the first half.

The Pride kept up the pressure in the second half and broke through with four goals, the first three set up by Jenkins. Junior Brittany Veazie (Dexter, Maine) put the Pride on the board just 1:01 into the second half, and Kelleher added goals at the 27:47 and 24:27 marks to make it a 3-0 game.

Freshman Emilyann Murray (Boonton, N.J.) rounded out the scoring for the visitors with her first career collegiate goal with seven minutes remaining. Murray had a chance for her second goal but came up short on a penalty stroke attempt in the final minute.

Springfield finished with a 28-0 advantage in shots, and Randall finished with 19 saves for PSU.

The Pride will wrap up its regular-season when it travels to Trinity College on Thursday evening, October 26th, in a 7:00 p.m. non-league contest. SC looks to end its 2006 regular-season record with an impressive 15-4 record as the Pride heads into postseason play.
