Women's Lacrosse Lands Quartet Of All-NEWMAC Honorees
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 27, 2004 – Springfield College junior forward Erin Looney (West Springfield, Mass.), sophomore forward Holly Carmody (Wayland, Mass.) and freshman back Jaclyn Alessi (Branford, Conn.) were named to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference team, while junior midfielder Spring Silverman (Huntington Valley, Pa.) was named honorable mention, as voted on today by the head coaches of the league.
Looney finished fourth in the conference with 47 goals and fifth with 56 points, while Carmody ranked second in assists (22) and eighth in points (61) for the Pride which was second in the NEWMAC in scoring offense, averaging 12.31 goals per game. It was the second-straight season the duo earned all-conference honors, as Carmody was also named the conference’s rookie of the year in 2003.
Alessi was one of the conference’s top first-year players, anchoring an SC defense that finished second in the conference in scoring defense, only allowing 7.94 goals per game.
One of the top draw control specialists in the conference, Silverman earned honorable-mention all-conference honors after finishing with 27 points (15 goals, 12 assists) for SC.
Springfield compiled an 11-5 record, including a 5-1 NEWMAC record this spring. SC advanced to the conference tournament championship game for the third season in a row, falling to Wheaton, 11-5, last Sunday (April 25).

Kristen Mullady ‘00, has been named an assistant professor of physical education and head women’s lacrosse coach at Springfield College. A former standout for Springfield’s women’s lacrosse team, Mullady returns to her alma mater to head up a program that went 12-6 and reached the conference tournament championship game a year ago.
