

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Nov. 9, 2005- The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced the 2005 Men’s Soccer Academic All-Conference Team, as six Springfield College athletes have received honors this season.
Academic All-Conference Team members must have a cumulative grade-point-average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale after the 2005 spring semester. They also must have achieved second year academic status at his/her institution and have been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
The following Springfield College men’s soccer athletes received NEWMAC honors:
Ryan Driscoll- 3.50; Junior, Goalkeeper- Wilmington, Del.
Matthew Lee- 3.66; Junior, Midfielder- Lincoln, R.I.
Michael Kilmartin- 3.73; Sophomore, Defender- Johnsonville, N.Y.
Justin Pepoli- 3.62; Senior, Midfielder- Ashburnham, Mass.
Benjamin Silliman- 3.69; Senior, Midfielder- Portland, Conn.
Brandon Szczesniak- 3.68; Senior, Defender- Houston, Texas
The other NEWMAC men’s soccer institutions include Babson College, Clark University, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Only the seventh coach in a rich soccer tradition dating back to 1906, Peter Haley '77 G '78 will be entering his 25th season of coaching at his alma mater in the fall of 2009.
