Wrestling's Poloskey Is Fifth At NCAA Championships

ADA, Ohio, March 8, 2003 -- Springfield College senior
Keith Poloskey (Middle Island, N.Y.) finished fifth in the 141-pound division for the second consecutive season at this weekend's NCAA Division III National Championship held at Ohio Northern University.
Poloskey earned All-America honors for the third season. He joins Rich Monroe '76 (four times) and Jeff Blatnick '79 as the only SC wrestlers to accomplish that feat.
Poloskey defeated Luther's Jell Patzke, 18-5, in his first match. In the second round, he beat Augustana's Matt Kapraun, 14-6, then dropped a 3-2 decision to Jim Morgan of Kings. In the consolation bracket, Poloskey fell to Augsburg's Jamie Tidwell, 13-9, before again beating Kapraun, 8-7, by decision.
SC's other entrant in the championships, senior
Bill Ivatts (Foxboro, Mass.), was making his second straight appearance at the NCAA Championships at 149 pounds. Ivatts lost to Wartburg's Bart Mehlert, 9-0, then fell to Loras' Chris Vogel in the consolation bracket.
