Women Basketball's Lauren O'Connor Earns All-NEWMAC Second Team Status

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – February 27, 2007Lauren O’Connor of Springfield College has been named All-New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference Second Team in women’s basketball for the 2006-07 season. A native of Valhalla, N.Y., O’Connor is the only player from Springfield College to receive post-season recognition.

The 6-1 sophomore center and NEWMAC Player of the Year candidate had a very good season. She led the league in rebounding with 10.4 per game. She also scored at a 13.5 clip, 10th best in the conference. She was the only player in the conference to average a double-double. She had 11 double-doubles during the course of the season. Her .492 field goal percentage was also fourth-best in the league. O’Connor led SC to a 14-12 overall record, and a 9-4 mark in conference, good for a #3 seed in the NEWMAC post-season tourney.
