

WORCESTER, Mass. – October 25, 2007 – The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team opened up the 2007-08 campaign with a 126-116 victory over Holy Cross on Wednesday evening.
Emily Sheehan (Erin, N.Y.) and Moira Price (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) each recorded a pair of individual victories in the meet. Sheehand took the 1000 freestyle in a time of 11:06.08 and the 500 freestyle in 5:28.67. Price, an All-American, won the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.37 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:27.33.Erin White (Glastonbury, Conn.), also an All-American, swept the diving events with wins in the 1-meter (236.10) and 3-meter (226.47). Melissa Nelson (Wallingford, Conn.) placed second in the 3-meter (224.32), Meghan Kijanka (Methuen, Mass.) finished in third (214.72).
Kallie Pottle (Brewer, Maine) also touched first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2.15.45. for the Pride.
Springfield returns to action on Saturday when it takes on Central Connecticut and Southern Connecticut.
John Taffe enters his 21st season in 2009-2010 as the head coach of the men's and women's swimming teams at Springfield College. Under Taffe’s leadership, the Pride has returned to its status as one of the best collegiate swimming and diving programs in Division III.Read more.
