Clapp Earns ECAC And NEWMAC Weekly Awards

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., September 13, 2002- Springfield College junior Marisa Clapp was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) and the ECAC women’s runner of the week in cross country.

Clapp, a native of Winchedon, Mass., was the NEWMAC Runner Of The Year in 2001. She began the 2002 season right where she left off, placing first in the Amherst Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 7. A 2001 All-American, Clapp finished the 5,000-meter race in a time of 18:50 and set a new course record.

The Pride finished fourth in the seven-team field.
