Boxscore

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. October 22, 2005 - Springfield College sophomore goalkeeper Emma Kaplan (Ridgefield, Conn.) saved 10 shots on the way to recording her 14th win and fourth shutout of the season as the Pride cruised past New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe, MIT, 3-0, this afternoon (Oct. 22) at MIT's Jack Barry Field.

SC scored all three of its goals within the first 20 minutes of action and never relinquished any portion of its lead the rest of the way. Senior defender Jaclyn Galligan (Hopedale, Mass.) started the scoring for the Pride, capitalizing on a penalty corner pass from junior midfielder Janna Prachniak (Lincoln, R.I.) in the third minute of play (2:50).

Classmates Sarah Brooker (Auburn, Maine) and Meghan Bascetta (Granby, Conn.) put SC up 2-0 and 3-0, respectively, as the seniors scored their 15th and ninth goals of the season, all before the 20-minute mark. The Pride outshot MIT 24-15 in the contest.

SC has won its past five games and 13 of its past 14 contests as it improves to 16-2 overall and 6-1 in conference play. The Pride will finish up its regular season on the road, facing NEWMAC opponent, WPI, on Tuesday evening, October 25, in a 7:00 p.m. start.
