Andrew Nally Named EIVA Hay Division Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., January 18, 2007 – Springfield College freshman outside hitter Andrew Nally (Rochester, N.Y.) has been named the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Hay Division Player of the Week, as announced in the season’s first weekly report on Wednesday afternoon, January 17th.

Nally, a native of Rochester, N.Y., and member of the Pace Bootlegger Volleyball Club, stepped in right away for the Pride in its season-opening match against Division II Lewis University on Thursday, January 11th in Blake Arena. With SC down a quick 2-0 in games to start the match, Nally provided an instant spark off the bench with his presence.

The outside hitter racked up 13 kills against the Flyers in the five-game match on 25 swings with just five errors for an impressive .320 hitting percentage. Nally also added five digs, two blocks and one service ace for a total of 15 points in just his first career collegiate contest.

Thus far on the season, the first-year is already second on the team in kills with a total of 26 in three matches, good for a 2.36 kill-per-game average. Nally is also tied for third on the squad in total digs with 11, this all coming against Division II Lewis University and Division I Ohio State University.

The 0-3 Pride will next host Nazareth College on Friday night, January 19th, in a 7:00 p.m. start in Blake Arena.
