Senior Gina Gutierrez Earns All-America Honors On Vault At NCGA Division III Championship

Ithaca, N.Y., March 23, 2002 - Springfield College senior Gina Gutierrez (South Setauket, N.Y.) finished fifth on the vault to earn All-America honors at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Division III Championship hosted by Ithaca College.

Gutierrez, who was the vault national champion in 2000, scored a 9.45 in the individual event finals after totaling a 9.40 during the team competition on Friday. The top 12 individuals from Friday qualified for the individual finals on Saturday and the top six finishers in each event earned All-America honors.

Springfield finished sixth out of eight teams in the team competition on Friday with 180.075 points. Wisconsin-LaCrosse won its second-straight team title with 184.925 points, followed by SUNY Cortland (183.175), Gustavus Adolphus (182.550), Ursinus (182.525), host Ithaca (181.725), Springfield, Hamline (176.00) and Wisconsin-River Falls (172.600).
