

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. --October 27, 2007 -The Springfield College women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 victory over Clark on Saturday afternoon in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference action on Saturday in Blake Arena. Springfield won by the scores of 30-14, 30-15, 30-24.
With the victory, the Pride improve to 22-9, 7-2 in conference play while Clark wraps up the regular season with a 6-18, 1-8 record.
Leading the way for Springfield in the match was Aylene Ilkson (Baldwin, N.Y.) who continued her outstanding play as of late. The junior outside hitter recorded 18 kills on a .424 hitting percentage to go along with 11 digs and three service aces.
Sarah Lang-Rodean (Mansfield Center, Conn.) added 11 kills and a pair of solo blocks while Heidi Yohe (Deer Park, Wash.) chipped in with 17 digs and nine kills.
Lindsay Marone (Hamden, Conn.) and Alyssa Muething (Plainsboro, N.J.) were honored in their final home regular season contest for the Pride. Marone finished with seven kills and eight digs while Muething chipped in with six digs and three aces.
The Pride await to see who it will play on Tuesday evening in the quarterfinals of the NEWMAC Tournament.
Joel Dearing will enter his 20th season as head women's volleyball coach at his alma mater in the fall of 2008. Dearing is regarded nationally as one of the sport’s best coaches and he has the resume to prove it. Dearing ranks in the top-10 in Division III history with a 638-293 (.685) overall mark in 27 seasons as a women’s volleyball coach.
