Eckhart, a senior from Palmerto, Pa., achieved his All-America honors by placing tied for sixth in the parallel bars with a score of 7.55.
In order to become an All-American, one had to place in the top six among individuals.
Springfield had two others competing in this competition, but each just missed becoming an All-American. Sophomore John (JJ) Ferreira (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished seventh in the floor exercise with a score of 8.05. In the very same event, senior Aric Hines (Greensboro, N.C.) placed eighth with a score of 7.85.
This concludes the men’s gymnastics season, and for that matter, the entire 2005-06 winter varsity sports season at Springfield College.
